The Eagle Court Of Honor
The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest honor a Boy
Scout can achieve. It requires many hours of hard work, a
required number of merit badges, and a completed community service
project. These projects range from establishing trails to repairing
boardwalks, building a gazebo at the senior center, creating playgrounds,
repairing walkways and building handicapped ramps at local churches, just to
name a few. The community always gains a lasting benefit from these
projects.
Only 2% of all Boy Scouts achieve the milestone of Eagle Scout. It is officially celebrated with an Eagle Court of Honor. The Boy Scout program instills in our youth the values and moral character which will serve them well throughout their adult lives. All Scouts follow the Scout Law
.
Linda has been privileged to attend almost all of
the Eagle Courts of Honor in Calvert County in the last eight years.
It is one of her highest priorities in her busy schedule. Calvert
County has an unusually high number of Eagle Scouts, which is a tribute to
the volunteer work of the Scout Masters, encouragement from home, and
dedication of the Scouts themselves. We are proud that they call
Calvert County home.

Information on other Scouting activities can also be found at the site.
While this page shows a limited number of those young men, there are many others whose pictures are not available. (If you are an Eagle Scout and would like your picture displayed on this website, please contact Linda and provide your picture.)

Girl Scout Gold Award
The Girl Scout Gold Award is the
highest award that a Girl Scout 14-18 may earn. Someone once described the
Girl Scout Gold Award as being "what you really want to be remembered for"
in Girl Scouting. For many, the leadership skills, organizational skills,
and sense of community and commitment that come from "going for the Gold"
set the foundation for a lifetime of active citizenship. To learn more

The Gold Award Project
The Gold Award project is the culmination of all the work a girl puts into
"going for the Gold." It is something that a girl can be passionate about—in
thought, deed, and action. The project is something that fulfills a need
within a girl's community (whether local or global), creates change, and
hopefully, is something that becomes ongoing. If it is an event, the event
should be something that people will want to continue for the next year; if
it is a service, it should be something that creates change or action with
long-term possibilities, empowering others besides just the girl; if it is
something tangible, it should come with a plan for use and maintenance
within the community. The project is more than a good service project—it
encompasses organizational, leadership, and networking skills. If a group of
girls work on the project together, each girl must be responsible for a
specific part of the project and must evaluate her participation as an
individual and a member of the group.
